Some who have noticed this new addition aren’t happy with the inclusion of Patois on google translate. Not everybody needs to know what’s being as this language was created by Black people taken from Africa to Jamaica so they could communication with each other without the colonizers knowing what they were saying. TikToker Sinead Adams, brings this up in her video below but also shares a bright side that some of the Google translations are way off so there’s still hope in the language not being fully exposed.
As of 2025 there are 243 Languages available for translation on Google Translate but there are many other services like Duolingo, social media accounts, youtube channels and tutors to learn languages at your leisure.
