Trader Joe’s Product Linked To Death and 15 Hospitalizations

An E. coli O121 outbreak tied to organic carrots from Grimmway Farms has sickened 39 people, hospitalized 15, and caused one death, according to the CDC. The recall, issued on November 16, affects Trader Joe’s and other major retailers across 18 states.

Recalled products include organic baby and whole carrots sold under brands like 365, Bunny Luv, Trader Joe’s, Wegmans, and more. Consumers are advised to check for products with specific best-if-used-by dates and dispose of or return them immediately.

E. coli O121 can cause severe symptoms, including bloody diarrhea and kidney complications. The CDC warns consumers to clean any surfaces that may have come into contact with contaminated carrots. Businesses are instructed to halt sales and sanitize affected areas.
